Beachcombing 101

Join us as we traverse our local beaches and learn all about seashells on our guided walk along marsh, dune, and swash zone ecosystems. Find out the tips and tricks to becoming an expert shell collector as we fill you in on when to visit the beach for shells and what equipment to use as you venture out!

Coral and Zooxanthellae: A Love Story

Ever wonder if a coral a plant or an animal? How those reefs so vibrant with color when seagrass are just green? Wonder no more as we dive into corals and their colorful pals, zooxanthellae! Learn all about the gorgeous reefs and different corals of the world and how these delicate ecosystems help our oceans.

Saving Our Sound

Learn how we are monitoring our soundside waters. Join our students as we use innovative technologies to study our local water quality. A brief classroom discussion on current water quality conditions will be followed by an interactive session on the dock on Navarre Sound as we show you how our students carry out monthly monitoring at various sites throughout the Sound!

Ever wonder why it's so important we slow down for birds at the Sound? What makes our local birds so special and unique? Learn the science behind our changing beaches and birds that call it home! The program includes an interactive lecture and guided birding walk led by an Audubon specialist.
